Welcome!
My name is Charles Schaefer and I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a BFA in Animation and a minor in Sculpture in the spring of 2016. I am currently seeking work as a fabricator. My main interest lies in stop-motion animation and puppet fabrication, but have found lots of fun doing prop fabrication and practical effect work for films and commercials as well.
I have always been enamored with the idea of bringing the still to motion, breathing life into the inanimate. When an object moves when it is not supposed to, there is something there that grabs my attention and makes me take a closer look to see how it moved. I have found that puppetry is one of the greatest ways to bring the inanimate to life. Whether within the realm of stop-motion or live puppet theater, puppetry seems to incorporate everything I love to do. From sculpture, to drawing and painting, and working with fibers, to engineering, and- most importantly- storytelling, puppetry is the culmination of my passions.
When I'm not making art and building puppets I spend as much time as I can outdoors and exploring. In the summer seasons I am an adventure trip guide and lead backpacking and kayaking trips around the country and a few places in Canada. And even then I find ways to create and make something form nothing.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my site!
